Welcome to Sovietistan. Your shift at the Ministry of Compliance starts now.

Every morning the government announces a new set of absurd laws. Coffee might be illegal. Fish might legally count as coffee. Bread might be reclassified as soup — and soup might already be under investigation.

Your job is simple: a citizen steps to Window 7, you inspect the form, and you stamp APPROVE or DENY.

The catch: nothing holds still. Laws change mid-shift, citizens may lie on their paperwork, and every mistake is explained back to you through an increasingly ridiculous chain of legal logic.

“Per Decree №217-B, fish are vegetables. Per Decree №88-A, vegetables are illegal. You approved the fish. The Ministry has taken notice.”

Sovietistan — The Window is a fast, satirical daily stamping game. The same laws apply to every player each day. Survive the shift, file your report, and compare your bureaucratic failure with the world.

🌙 New in Version 0.4.0 — Night Shift

Night Shift is a slower, timerless mode focused on deduction instead of speed. No countdown. No queue pressure. Just you, the citizens, and an ever-growing statute book.

Every hour, the Ministry issues a new Article. Legal chains grow deeper, your own rulings become precedent, liars become more confident, and audits continue until the law finally wins.

Features

  • Daily Directive — one global challenge per day, same laws for everyone.
  • Night Shift — no timer, escalating legal complexity, and deeper statute-book survival.
  • Practice Mode — unlimited off-the-record shifts.
  • Procedural legal chains — absurd laws combine into new consequences.
  • False Declarations — citizens may declare one item while carrying another.
  • Audits — some decisions are reviewed later, when it is already too late.
  • Self-Criticism — confess one doubtful decision before the Ministry finds it.
  • Rulings — when the law is silent, your stamp can become precedent.
  • Share Reports — generate a report of your shift and your worst legal mistake.
  • Instant browser play — no download required, works on desktop and mobile.

very cool and funny! if there were an mode without a timer id come back and play some more

Thanks — this was useful feedback. I added Night Shift, a no-timer mode focused on slower legal reasoning instead of speed. Same absurd law system, but the statute book accumulates over time. Would be curious if this feels closer to what you wanted.

oh! how do i play the night shift?

You only need to play through the Daily Mode once — don’t worry, it doesn’t matter whether you get the decisions right or wrong. After the shift ends, Night Shift will be available in the mode selection. Hope you enjoy it!

oh awesome ty! i got through a shift, very funny. i got tripped up on one: it says x is illegal after 1:00 and it was 23:00 which i think is after 1:00? or does 23:00 count as before 1:00?
